Bing Versus Google
Most people have heard that Google dominates the search engine market.
That’s actually true.
According to Wikipedia.org “as of October 2016, Google leads the global search engine market with a market share of 89.3%.
Bing comes second with a market share of 4.36%, Yahoo comes third with a market share of 3.3%.
Yahoo actually uses Bing’s search engine to get their results so Bing has 7.66% of the market.
What you may not realize is that Microsoft, who owns Bing and Yahoo, is not out of the search engine game.
Windows 10, which comes preloaded on all PC’s, has Bing loaded as the default search engine.
Most Windows 10 users don’t know how to change that or simply don’t care.
Bing has a new look.
I don’t know how long it’s been since you tried Bing, but it’s pretty nice now.
Microsoft Office is now online just like Google Docs.
Skype is integrated into the browser similar to Google Talk.
The search interface is clean without too much advertising “unlike MSN”.
Best of all, organic search results are at the top of the page while paid ads are at the bottom.
The most exciting thing about Bing is Apple’s Siri, Microsoft’s Cortana, and Amazon’s Alexa all use Bing for their searches.
Only Google’s Google Assistant is not using Bing.
According to SearchEngineLand.com, half of all searches will be voice searches by 2020.
In 2015 there were about 2.5 million searches using voice.
By 2017 the number climbed to over 30 million.
People like using the voice interfaces to search.
Bing may catch Google.
If you have not done it yet, go to https://www.bing.com/toolbox/webmaster/ and add your website and sitemap in Bing.
